The City of Kanorado is a city of the 3rd class and operates under the Mayor/Council form of government. The governing body is elected political leaders and policymakers elected to represent the citizens' needs and wishes.

The Mayor presides at the Council meetings and serves as the spokesperson for the community.

Together the Mayor and Council form the governing body of the City of Kanorado.
